So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”

34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. 38 I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”

John 8:31-38

The truth is not relegated to religious discussions alone. It is of ultimate importance. Whether humans live in freedom or not depends on the truth. Right now, in the West, truth is a casualty. The powers that be have been doing their best to destroy the truth. Of course, the ultimate truth is Jesus, who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Jesus makes no room for deception, falsehood, and lies. If human beings are to continue to experience freedom from tyranny, then we all are required to speak the truth in the face of lies courageously. We will, of course, be persecuted for it. Some will lose their jobs. Some will lose their platform to speak and bring influence. Some will be “canceled” from social media platforms. The truth will become costly.

What are some of the lies that must be countered?

The lie: Only schools have a right to determine what children are taught in school. Parental rights to raise their children are being stripped away, and the children are becoming the possessions of the state. Fortunately, some parents are not going along with the state’s narrative and are taking the state to court. Hopefully, God will rule, and the court will retain parental rights to raise their own children.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

The lie: Sexual conduct, sexual “orientation,” gender identity, and human sexuality, in general, are fluid. There are no absolutes regarding human sexuality. What brings one pleasure is what is good and right. God made me this way.

This lie requires the denial of the Creator; there isn’t one. Without a Creator who has authority over his creation, anything goes. The problem is that we all know that there is one Creator God to whom we are all accountable, even if we deny it. So the lie extends beyond sexual mores to the lie that we can somehow exchange the truth of God for the lie that we too can be gods.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Romans 1:24-28

The truth is God only made two sexes or genders, male and female. Anything else is a lie, and we are to live not by lies.

So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
    male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:27

The lie: Anything that does not go along with the tyrant’s narrative.

The COVID virus came from nature and not the Wuhan lab. That narrative cannot be contradicted. If one attempts to counter the narrative, they will pay the price.

The lie: The only solution to Covid is for everyone to be vaccinated. That will stop the pandemic. This narrative has a few problems; it is finally beginning to fall apart. The vaccines don’t protect people from getting COVID. The vaccines don’t keep people from transmitting the disease. The vaccines don’t keep people from going to the hospital. A significant number of hospitalized patients are fully vaccinated. Connected to this lie is the lie that the only proper and effective treatments are the expensive Big Pharma solutions. The fact is that inexpensive therapeutics are being used to have significant effects in various parts of the world. Medicines like ivermectin (not horse paste, a favorite pejorative of the state narrative) and hydroxychloroquine, along with a plethora of vitamins and other over-the-counter aids, are proving effective. These therapeutics have virtually no harmful side effects, whereas people are dying from the vaccinations and other expensive Big Pharma treatments. The lies around this COVID pandemic have been highly destructive, and we must not live by lies but faithfully speak and write the truth that will set people free.

My point today is that we face a crisis of truth, and the Lord Jesus requires us to speak the truth. If we join with the Pharisees and claim Abraham as our father (when in reality religion is our father), we will reveal that we are actually of our father, the devil, just as Jesus said.

It has always been time for Christians to speak the truth. Still, in the West, now more than ever before, the truth is required to avoid going from our current soft totalitarianism to hard totalitarianism enforced by guns and tanks instead of “fact-checkers” and corporate HR departments.
