I believe every human being wants what God has to offer in heaven. Everyone wants joy. Everyone wants peace. Everyone would like to be free of all mourning, crying, and pain.
Everyone would like to see nations get along peaceably with no war nor rumors of wars.
And we would like to see these conditions be permanent.
We would even like to see our relationship with the animal kingdom be peaceable. Many would like to see animals get along and not be one another’s next meal.
We would all like to see a positive climate change in which the deserts would bloom like a garden.
Every human revolution has had as it’s ideal some form of this kind of life. I am convinced that it is at the heart of man to desire Eden, God’s garden. I know many don’t know that is what they want, but you have to ask yourself, where did the phrase, “heaven on earth” come from? Isn’t it the desire for all people to experience what heaven has to offer?
Liberal politicians want it for the underprivileged of society. They want social justice.
Conservative politicians want it for the law-abiding citizens to be free of the criminal element.
Liberal politicians want significant sharing of the wealth so that we have no poor among us.
Conservative politicians want people to have the freedom to share their wealth as they see fit and not be coerced by government.
The ideal of both wings is for all people to have freedom, joy, reasonable wealth and peace – a little heaven on earth.
So what is my point? Everyone has a yearning for heaven, even if they don’t know that is what it is. I suggest we take advantage of that yearning and let folks know how they can experience heaven for real. It is all available in Christ. We get some of it now, and all the rest of it forever and forever. The Holy Spirit is the down payment on the full deal.
Eventually, all who are in Christ will experience heaven on earth when we find ourselves on the New Earth when the separation between heaven and earth will be done away with. The New Jerusalem will come down to earth and will be the dwelling place of the Lord Jesus. That is when the promises of heaven in the verses above will be reality in full.
