For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. – Romans 1:18-25

All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. – Matthew 11:27

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and his greatness is unsearchable. – Psalm 145:3

Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. – 1 Cor 2:12

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! – Ro 11:33

so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; – Colossians 1:10

Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” – Jer 9:23-24 23

And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. – John 17:3

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. – 1 John5:20

Everyone has knowledge of God

Every human being has knowledge of God (even if they claim to be atheists) because God has shown it to them. Unfortunately, some have chosen to suppress the truth of God and have exchanged it for the lie. (Romans 1:25) The only way we can know God accurately is by the Holy Spirit through the Scriptures, God’s special revelation of himself to us.

We can know him accurately

We cannot know God comprehensively, but we can know him accurately. Because he is infinite and we are finite, we do not have the capacity to know him comprehensively. There will always be mystery with God. Cool!

We can know him intimately

God has chosen to reveal himself to us by the Holy Spirit through the Scriptures. This enables both intimacy and accuracy in our knowing God. The more intimately and accurately we come to know God, the greater our passion for Him. Passion for God is a good thing.

We can know him passionately

Assuming you are a Christian, you know the thrill in your soul when the Lord chooses to open your eyes to the Scriptures to see something of him you haven’t seen before. I describe this as both an exhilarating thrill and deep joy. I believe it is probably the most profound emotional experience a human can have.

It always gets better

Get this, those kinds of exhilarating, passionate, moments of intimacy with God will never end. Because he is the infinite God, we will never run out of new material. There will always be a reason to tune in to God for a new episode. With God, there is no such thing as boring.

What a marvel, that we can actually know God. He is knowable.

Tell us about your experience of God’s revealing himself through Scripture that gave you “goose bumps.”
